Rev. Renee Williams-Thomas

Reverend Thomas has served in diverse positions of the church and the Episcopal District where she resides. Reverend Thomas has conducted workshops and seminars both at local and national religious conferences and retreats. In November, 2005, she was ordained and appointed to the pastorate of Bethlehem FBH Church in Washington, DC, where she currently serves as Senior Pastor.

Reverend Thomas holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Post graduate work in Administration was completed at Temple University. On May 10, 2004, Reverend Thomas graduated magna cum laude from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC with a Master of Divinity degree, concentrating in Urban Ministry. She is contemplating pursuing a doctorate in theology.

Reverend Thomas is a member of the Board of Directors of Grace and Race Ministries, Inc, an organization founded to promote racial reconciliation. Reverend Thomas is a native Washingtonian and the widow of the late De Carlo Thomas. She received her Christian foundation at Tried Stone Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas in Washington, DC. She continues to be a part of the Fire Baptized Holiness denomination and serves in many capacities.

Reverend Thomas has over 25 years of experience working in the private sector in social work, as an executive administrator serving the needs of at risk women, children and adolescents. For her efforts, Reverend Thomas has been honored with memberships on city-wide boards and councils, including mayoral councils for both Mayor Marion Barry and Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly. Reverend Thomas is also a member of the Carter-Mondale alumni, having worked at the White House in the Office of Congressional Liaison during the administration of President Jimmy Carter. She currently serves as District EAP Clinician for Magellan Health Services and is an instructor with Prince George’s Community College, Largo, Maryland.

In addition, Reverend Thomas is a licensed psychotherapist and is engaged in a group private practice in Washington, DC. She is affiliated with the National Association of Social Workers and the Association of Full Gospel Women Clergy.
