Stones of Hope

Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial

Grace and Race Ministries, Inc, celebrates the official opening of The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. Forty-eight years after Dr. King delivered the now famous, “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the memorial will be dedicated to recognize his life  and contributions to creating a more peaceful, nonviolent and loving world.

There will be many critiques of the memorial but do not limit yourself to analyzing the politics surrounding the choices inherent in the design  and construction.

You will be blessed if you are able to experience this piece of history.  As you walk through the opening designed to represent the “mountain of despair ” you will eventually reach the “stone of hope!”  Metaphorically speaking, we can each challenge ourselves to become stones of hope in the midst of difficult circumstances in our lives.

Note: The official ceremony has been postponed due to Hurricane Irene.
